Richard Caton Woodville

Richard Caton Woodville (30 April 1825 – 13 August 1855) was an American performer from Baltimore who spent his professional career in Europe, after studying in Düsseldorf below the government of Karl Ferdinand Sohn.
He died of an overdose of morphine in London at the age of 30. He was the dad of Richard Caton Woodville Jr., also a noted artist. In his curt career he produced fewer than 20 paintings; but they were without difficulty known in their grow old through exhibition and prints and have remained prominent in the canon of American painters.
