Ficre Ghebreyesus

Ficre Ghebreyesus (1962–2012) was an Eritrean-American performer who made radiant paintings in a series of styles including representational, abstract, and a surreal raptness of the two. His paintings feign influences of European and American art as with ease as the culture and scenery of his original country. Many are little works; others as much as mural-sized. One critic maxim his play-act as "dynamic, complicated and textually rich." The critic supplementary that the paintings, "form at the nexus of culture, history and memory, sprawling across the canvas, and flowing out into this and other worlds." Ghebreyesus showed infrequently in trailer galleries and his con achieved widespread salutation only after its tell in posthumous exhibitions.
