Felipe Archuleta

Felipe Benito Archuleta (1910–1991) was an Hispanic performer who worked mostly in New Mexico. Felipe Benito Archuleta grew going on poor. He left speculative at an in the future age to function as a field hand and superior as a stonemason, cook, and for many years a carpenter. His Spanish descent exposed him to "bulto" making, the shaping of wooden religious figures used in shrines. In 1967, unable to locate work, Felipe prayed to God to relieve his poverty and desperation. His subsequent religious awakening led to his pretend as a carver of animals. Felipe is best known for his animal sculptures that stress the ferocious flora and fauna of the animals he portrays by providing them with irregularly carved teeth, wide-eyed stares, and precious snouts and genitals.

Archuleta carved his last major undertaking in the Spring of 1987 due to trouble from arthritis.
