Warner Sallman

Warner Elias Sallman (April 30, 1892 – May 25, 1968) was an American painter from Chicago best known for his works of Christian religious imagery. He then worked in want ad advertising, as well as in freelance illustration. He is most allied with his portrait of white Jesus, Head of Christ, of which higher than 500 million copies have been sold. In 1994, The New York Times wrote that he was likely to be voted the "best-known artist of the century".
